So things are off to a pretty slow start over here, in terms of Kids Clothes Week. No actual sewing going on yet, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot. That counts for something right?
I think I’ve finally picked out a few items I want to work on and last night I did some tracing and cutting and taping of patterns. I’m even busting out a Japanese sewing book, so I’m using Meg’s awesome trick for adding seam allowance. But seriously, getting my patterns ready has taken me 2 days and I haven’t even finished yet. Oy.
Next step is “shopping” in my bins-o-knit. Yup, this is pretty much my entire knit stash (though I did just break my fabric shopping diet and buy some knits online yesterday. *guilty face* I couldn’t resist!!)
So tonight I’ll finish preparing the patterns, pick out some fabric and hopefully get it cut. Maybe even do a little sewing? Probably not. Most of the sewing will probably happen on days 3 & 4. And if all goes well I might even have a garment or two to show you before the week is over. I still need to figure out how to use the KCW website too.
Where are you with your KCW plans? Been more productive than me, I hope?
And though this isn’t really KCW related, here is my dining table today.
Ahh yes, the life of a blogger 😛
Can’t wait to see what you’re making!
i’ve decided this week for me has to be “baby nesting week” meaning yesterday i sorted clothes, today i’m trying to finish sewing a hospital bag for myself, maybe a changing table cover, maybe some leggings…we’ll see what happens! but yeah, sorry KCW. urgent needs are winning. 😉 can’t wait to see what you make though!
Ooh, that sounds awesome!! Definitely gotta take care of baby prep first. Hope you get some good stuff done!
Yeah no KCW for me this time either. Kid #1 doesn’t need clothes ( his closet and drawers are overflowing with clothes. Kid #2 could actually use some pants but rarely consents to wear what I make her. And Kid #3 outgrows stuff so fast it’s not worth the bother. So instead I’m sewing for me 🙂 Will look forward to seeing your makes though!
Haha, I’m actually in the same situation – Yuki doesn’t need any clothes at all and Kaya really doesn’t either! But there are just so many patterns I want to try! I’d actually love to be sewing for myself, but it’s been so long since I’ve participated in KCW, I’ve been missing it. We’ll see what I can get done – I’m feeling pretty rusty and not as motivated as I used to 🙂
Look forward to seeing your makes..think I am having a rest this kcw for first time in two years!
Haha, you deserve it! I bet it’ll be nice to have time to really see what everyone else is making. I feel like I don’t have enough time to do that until after KCW is over!
I’m doing the same thing around here- lots of thinking and then trying out some patterns I want to try, even though there are no great clothing needs around here. I look forward to seeing your creations! And thanks for the reminder about that tracing trick. I want to trace some more things from “Happy Homemade Sew Chic Kids” and that would make it so much faster!
Your fabric bins are so beautifully organized:) That counts for something! My sewing space and fabric stacks are disgusting right now. It’s going to take months to dig out:( Looking forward to seeing what you make!
