Look what arrived today!
I ordered these woven clothing labels to put on the clothes, fabric books and other things I make. It was a bit of a splurge, but I thought it would add a professional touch to my products. So anything I make from now on will be adorned with one of these pretty babies!
I ordered these from Linx Corporation. Overall, I’m glad I ordered them. I don’t know how their price compares to other companies, but it seems like a reasonable price. They have great customer service/communication. I must have gone back and forth with them at least 20 times about the design and they always came back with a new mock up. Part of the reason we had to communicate so much was because I am a perfectionist and I need things to be EXACTLY the way I want it, but part of it was because I was having trouble with the artists on their side. They kept changing things I wanted to stay the same and the changes they made, or mistakes, were not things I could look over. That was the downside. The entire process took waaaaaaay longer than I had hoped because we had to go back and forth so many times. But at the end, I’m glad that they were willing to hear my feedback and make the changes I requested and I am satisfied with the final product.
I literally JUST got them so I haven’t had a chance to sew them onto anything yet, but if you buy something from my etsy shop, you can check one of these out up close!
TADAAA! I’m sure you’ve noticed the new name by now. Some of you probably know that I originally started marketing my stuff under the name, “made by mie.” I really do love that name, but it was time to start over with something new.
First, I started to notice that the “Made by _______” market was pretty well covered by some fabulous and talented artists like made by RAE and Made By Lex. Then, I discovered that the name “madebymie” is already owned by someone on etsy! Although I could keep the name, my etsy shop would have to have a different address. But I didn’t want to have the same name as someone else! And I didn’t want it to be confusing for people to find me. So the search for a new name began.
Hideko and I tossed around A LOT of ideas. Some were ok, some were . . . not. I got some great suggestions from the Facebook world too! But this one just popped out of my mouth during one of our brainstorming sessions and I loved it. Short, simple and hopefully, easy to remember. I think it reflects who I am and the kinda thing I do.
So I started working on a new logo and banner. I decided to keep my lil girl doodle from years ago and give her a little makeover. Here it is, the old and the new!
Yes, it sucks that I had already put some work into the old logo and tagged some of the clothes I’ve made and gotten a stamp created and everything. But it’s still so early in the game and I’d rather make the switch now rather than later. I feel really good about the new name and excited to see where we’ll go from here!
So now it’s just you and mie! Nice to meet you 🙂
