Canvas dopp kits and a little hand stitching

I’m over on the Miss Matatabi blog today sharing these two dopp kits I made!   I used these lovely canvas fabrics and the Zippered Dopp Kit tutorial from The Purl Bee and I’m loving how they came out.

I added a bit of decorative hand stitching to one to make a personalized gift for my honey!  Check out all the details on Miss Matatabi!

(I’m still going strong wearing handmades for Me Made May, but definitely running out of new things to wear.  I’m trying to remedy that with a couple new Scout Tees – how about you?)

Life is strange: part 2 and Me Made May

So back in February, I posted about how I decided to take on a new writing opportunity to blog for mom.me.  Well, after two months of that, I quit!  Shortest writing “career” ever?  Haha, maybe.  I tried it.  I liked some of the things about it.  It definitely pushed me to write about different topics and in a way that’s completely different from how I write here on this blog.  I got to connect with some new people.  I liked the paycheck 😛

But it was stressful.  For a slow writer like me, and a maaaajor procrastinator, it was too much.  The second I finished one piece, it was time to start another.  When I had submitted all the posts for one month, I had to come up with new ideas for the next month.   Continue reading

Let’s Have A Party Skirt

Hey!  It’s Kids Clothes Week!  It’s been awhile since I’ve fully jumped into Kids Clothes Week, but I was feeling motivated to make some new duds for the 4 year old.  I had completely stopped making clothes for her at some point because she was rejecting all the stuff that I was making.  But now she’s really into dresses, skirts and tank tops and all those things that I made 1-2 years ago!  Lately, she’s been grabbing this skirt a lot (which makes me super happy), so I thought I should add another to the closet.

Small World Backpack

I’m baaaack!

Wow, blogging two days in a row!?  Pretty unheard of for me, especially during these days of sloooow blogging.  But honestly, I’m pretty psyched about this project and I just couldn’t wait to share it!

So yesterday I posted a pair of Umbrella dresses that I made as part of the It’s a Small World (blog tour), After All to promote Rae Hoekstra’s new fabric line for Cloud9.  Well when I originally saw the fabrics I had such a hard time deciding and a few ideas pop into my head that I asked for 2 fabrics for 2 projects!  Clearly I was feeling a bit ambitious and itching to get back to sewing after a pretty long break.

A Couple of ‘Brella Dresses

Hey hey!  I’m here joining the It’s a Small World (blog tour), After All for Rae Hoekstra’s newest line of fabric for Cloud9, Small World.  I’m talking about Rae of Made By Rae glory, of course!  So when she asks you to check out her incredibly cute 100% organic baby wale corduroy, you say YES!  Which is exactly what I did.

Easy Felt Bunny Basket and Other Things I’ve Written

Felt Bunny Basket by you & mie

Hello again!  I’m just checking in to say hi and share with you some of the things I’ve been up to!

Every so often people ask me, “How’s the simple life!?” in response to my post about living a life with less.  Unfortunately, it’s been anything but simple!  Things went really well for about a month, when I stopped blogging here.  But soon after, I decided to take up an offer to blog for mom.me and while I’ve been enjoying it, writing those posts has taken up all the time that had just been freed up.

One Lucky Butt

Yo!  Hey!  How’s it going!?  Long time, eh?  How are you doing?

March has rolled in quickly and I feel like I’ve been slammed in all directions.  Overwhelmed is an understatement, but I know that it’ll pass.  Just trying to ride it out.  Anyone else having a crazy month so far?

Well I’m here to share my latest Miss Matatabi Makers project!  I used some beautiful laminated nani IRO to make a changing pad and diaper clutch for the baby, er, toddler.  It feels a little wrong to be changing dirty diapers on nani IRO, but I do love it so much!

Seriously, this is one lucky butt!

Anyways, check out the full post HERE.

Besides this project I haven’t really done any sewing recently.  I’ve been doing something else.  Sorry sewing, I’ve been cheating on you.  With knitting!  Haha, yeah, I picked up the knitting needles recently to try and make myself a beanie.  I’ll let you know how that goes if/when I finish. 🙂

What have you been working on?

Take care and till next time!

Life is strange

Life can be strange sometimes.

I recently posted about how I wanted to spend less time blogging because it wasn’t bringing me as much joy as it used to.  I wanted to focus more on family and health and simplifying my life and spend less time on the computer and dealing with social media and all the things that come with blogging (like stress and lack of sleep).
